ASSESSMENT OF WHO ‘infodemic’ RESPONSE
The COVID-19 pandemic brought an infodemic of misinformation and disinformation, making it hard for individuals to find and act on accurate information. WHO’s infodemic management focused on combating this through timely, accurate information, community engagement, and digital tools like social listening.
As Senior Consultant and thematic specialist for INTRAC’s evaluation of WHO’s infodemic response, I conducted Theory of Change (ToC) reviews, analysed quantitative components of a mixed-methods evaluation, managed online survey data collection, and reviewed MEL systems and reporting. The evaluation helped WHO strengthen its approach to infodemic management, ensuring more effective responses to misinformation and its impact on health behaviours during emergencies.
