FAIRTRADE INTERNATIONAL
I am leading a theory-based evaluation to strengthen Fairtrade International’s Theory of Change (ToC) by analysing the impact of its interventions on small producers, workers, and the broader sustainable trade ecosystem, using published and grey literature from 2021 to 2024.
This evaluation assesses the evidence base, identifies gaps, and provides actionable recommendations to improve Fairtrade’s interventions and evidence generation. Participatory methods, including focus groups and triangulation with monitoring data, ensure insights are validated and aligned with operational needs.
Although ongoing, the project has already highlighted areas of impact, inconclusive results, and pathways between ToC indicators. These findings are shaping the redesign of Fairtrade’s ToC, evidence framework, and strategic priorities for the next five years.
This work builds on an earlier Fairtrade Evidence Map (2015–2020), I also undertook. Report.
